Rovigliano is conveniently placed, so that you can have a peaceful stay in the countryside but also enjoy the highlights of Umbria and Tuscany. We are half an hour from the galleries, churches, opera, film and jazz festivals of Perugia, Umbria's capital. Medieval towns, including Assisi, Arezzo, Gubbio are within 45 minutes drive. Check our What to do there? section of this site. The closest town is Cittá di Castello (8km) with its weekly markets and a world class Jazz festival that take place in July.

However, the best aspect of the region is the unspoiled countryside on either sides of the valley with few roads and villages, but thousands of hectares of natural woodland that teems with wildlife, including many rare species of birds and deer. This is a real 'get away from it all destination.

 A car is essential here. The nearest shop & bar is less than 5 minutes drive. Main shopping is available at the Supermarket near Cittá di Castello (less than 10 minutes drive) or Sansepolco (15minutes drive).

Driving times are as follows:
Cittá di Castello (less than 10 minutes), Sansepolcro (15 minutes), Arezzo (40 minutes), Perugia (35 minutes), Assisi (45 minutes), Gubbio (40 minutes).

Historical medieval towns, such as Monterchi, Citerna, Montone, Anghiari, Pietralunga and Monte S. Maria Tiberina, are within close proximity and definitely worth a visit.
 

How to get there?

By air:

Perugia Airport is by far the nearest to our house - less than 30 minutes drive. Ryanair flies from London Stansted - visit www.ryanair.com 

Forli Airport is about 1.15 hours drive from Rovigliano. Ryanair is the only airline to fly daily from London (Stansted airport) - visit www.ryanair.com

Bologna International - British Airways has two daily flights from/to London Gatwick. Bologna International is about 1.45 hours drive. We have noticed that BA's rates can be very completive and the timing of the flights is usually more civilised. Check out www.ba.com

You can also try flights to/from Rimini (Ryanair), Pisa (BA) and Rome (BA, Easyjet, Ryanair). These airports are between 2 and 2,5-hours drive from Rovigliano.

By car:
From Cesena and Perugia take E-45 and exit Cittá di Castello, follow direction for Arezzo for 5 Km. Once past Lerchi village, turn left to Astucci-Rovigliano-Prato and after 4 Km turn left signpost  Rovigliano. Drive up the road for 0.5 km and when the road turns left carry on straight past the main villa to Casa Rovigliano that lies behind it on the right.
